Are You Correctly Contouring and Highlighting?

Contouring and Highlighting are two makeup techniques that work together to reflect the light in a way that will play up your beauty. Some women leave this to pros and makeup artists not knowing how simple it is to do. Although this is a very simple technique to do, some people tend to over do it, so if there’s one tip I can give is “subtlety”. Be subtle when contouring and highlighting. I’ve seen so many young girls and women highlighting so much that [although they may look great in pictures] in person they looked washed out and bruised… so please don’t over do it.

Contour: Jaw, temples, under chin, under jawline (along neck).

Highlight: Bridge of nose, apples of cheeks, top of forehead, at hairline.

Blush: Under cheekbones.

——————————————-

Contour: Entire hairline on top of forehead, hollows of cheeks and bottom of chin.

Highlight: Above Cheekbones (a little higher than where you put blush).

Blush: On cheekbones.

——————————————-

Contour: Jaw, temples, along hairline.

Highlight: Bridge of nose, apples of cheeks, center of chin.

Blush: On cheekbones from hairline, blended to just before apples of cheeks

——————————————-

Contour: Temples along hairline and bottom of chin.

Highlight: Just below hollows of cheek down to jawline.

Blush: On cheekbones
